In a statement provided to PEOPLE on Friday, Nov. 28, a Holland America Line spokesperson confirmed that the 55-year-old American citizen who was last seen exiting the company’s Rotterdam ship on Nov. 20 has been located.
“We appreciate the efforts of local authorities in Sint Maarten and we’re glad to see the situation has been resolved,” the statement said.
The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) also shared an update on social media, announcing that “missing person (was) located.”
“Following coordination between KPSM and other partners, contact has been made with the individual in question,” the department said on Friday after previously issuing a missing person’s alert for Evans on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
“In accordance with the laws governing privacy and the protection of personal data, no additional information will be released about the individual or their circumstances. The Police Force thanks the community and its partners for their cooperation during this investigation,” the statement concluded.
Evans left the Rotterdam for an activity on Nov. 20 while the cruise ship was docked in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten. She did not return when it was time to board.
“Based on information gathered during the investigation, KPSM has reason to believe that a female matching Ms. Evans’ description checked into a hotel on the French side of the island using her passport,” the police force said on Thursday, Nov. 27.

“She has also reportedly been seen in the surrounding area of that establishment,” the KPSM added.
Evans traveled from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with the Rotterdam making stops in the Bahamas, St. Lucia, Tobago, Barbados and Puerto Rico ahead of its scheduled return on Nov. 28, according to CruiseMapper.
