Hundreds of diners are travelling far and wide to queue for hours outside a hole-in-the-wall burger joint with no seating.

charrd in Melbourne’s Brunswick East has been attracting huge crowds every day after it was named the 14th best burger in the World’s 25 Best Burger of 2025.

Despite only opening its doors four months ago, the unassuming tiny shop with a takeaway window now sells than 800 burgers a day.

There are four types of cheeseburgers to choose from: classic single ($15), classic double ($18), charrd single ($16) and charrd double ($19).

The most requested menu item is the charrd double, a charcoal grilled double-patty cheeseburger with chilli jam and truffle mayo.

The takeaway restaurant has been so popular that customers are reporting waiting in line for than two hours – so is it worth the hype?

‘It lived up to all the hype and is easily the best burger I have ever had, such a simple burger but the quality and taste is something else,’ one raved.

‘The wait time is long for a reason. One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. It’s juicy and the aioli on the charrd burger is the cherry on top,’ another shared.

‘Literally the best burger I’ve ever had in my entire life. So consistent even after the 50th time having it,’ one revealed.

‘Unreal burgers at charrd! I can honestly see why it’s ranked the 14th best burger in the world – it truly lives up to the hype. The smoky flavour in the burger was incredible, giving it that perfect chargrilled taste, and the truffle aioli sauce tied it all together beautifully. Every bite was juicy, rich, and full of flavour,’ another added.

Many called it the ‘best burger’ they’ve ever had and were already planning their next visit.

But not everyone left satisfied, especially after waiting than an hour for a burger.

‘Pretty overrated. The burger is… not what I was expecting. Decent burger but definitely not worth the one-hour wait,’ one said.

‘OMG the queue to get a burger is crazy. On a Friday night waiting one hour to get a burger is madness. Sure the burger is crazy good and the fries are OK. But not sure if it is worth the wait. Would I come again? Definitely, but probably not on a peak night when the queue is stupendous,’ another shared.

‘If you wanna try this place, be ready to wait for a long time. The charrd burger is quite special. You can literally taste the truffle and mayo flavour. It’s really cheesy and greasy though. To be honest, it’s not worth spending that much time waiting for this burger. If the line is too long, it’s probably better to find somewhere else,’ one added.

‘I travelled across Melbourne to try this burger. The burger itself is really good. Easily the best in Melbourne. The burgers are minimalist, which I like. However, it’s very much on the small side, and the fries are a similarly tiny serve. We waited an hour to get our burgers,’ another shared.

One customer gave a brutally honest review after he was left ‘pretty disappointed’ because he was ‘excited to try the world’s 14th best burger’.

‘I was finally able to get my hands on those burgers after a second attempt. First attempt the line was way too long and didn’t bother waiting. Ordered one classic single, three charrd double, one fries and the charrd sauce,’ he said.

‘Firstly the classic and the charrd double burger tasted the same, didn’t taste the smokiness that everyone is talking about. The beef patties weren’t as juicy and the buns were a bit dry. Was just an average burger to my liking.

‘And to finish it off, the fries were meh. Was lacking a bit of salt and flavour. Personally it’s not worth my time to line up again since I’ve had tastier burgers at other places.’
