“I have had kind of a girl crush on you for a long time, including in the sixth grade when I got food coloring and I dyed my hair to look (like you),” Bush Hager said of Danes’ role of Angela Chase onMy So-Called Life.

The television personality then shared a side-by-side image of herself as a kid and Danes in the teen drama series, both sporting reddish-brown hair. “I mean, please look, doesn’t that little person want to be the other little person?” she said.

“That is very sweet,” Danes, 46, replied.

The actress went on to share a behind-the-scenes detail about her character on the short-lived series, which aired for one season from 1994 to 1995.

“Well, originally it was scripted that Angela was supposed to peroxide her hair and the hairdresser was like, ‘I’m not going to destroy this 13-year-old girl’s hair,’” she recalled. “So we went with putting color in rather than stripping it.”

Bush Hager then yelled, “two minutes to air!” as McMillan was still cutting her hair. “Look! We’re good to go,” he eventually said to her, confirming that he’s “happy” with the finished product.

“Hurry up! Hold on! Thank you so much!” yelled the morning show host, whose hair was still being blow-dried by McMillan for last-minute touch-ups as she rushed from the glam room to the studio.

Of course, she made it just in time. “A fresh trim nine minutes before the show starts? No problem! 😉@mrchrismcmillankilled it as usual!#jennaandfriends,” Bush Hager captioned her post.

Bush Hager first debuted her bob cut on the Tuesday, June 17, episode ofJenna & Friendsrevealing that the look was inspired by actress Leslie Bibb’s short, blonde look inThe White Lotus.

“This is my hair,” Bush Hager announced as she walked on stage with Bibb, who served as a guest co-host for the episode.

When they sat at the desk, Bush Hager reflected on the change to her appearance: “I feel a little… You know that ’90s movieSingle White Female, where you try to copy somebody to such an extent? You made this haircut so famous, and then I used your hairstylist, who is a star, to get the exact same haircut, and I’m feeling a little strange.”

Bibb replied, saying, “You don’t look strange. You look sexy and powerful and glamorous. And I kept saying it yesterday — you’re a badass.”
