Intel Will Soon Begin Manufacturing Chips For Apple, Including IPhone Processors
After years of abandoning Intel processors in Macs and moving to its own M-series chips, it seems that Apple is about to return to cooperation with Intel, but this time in a completely different framework.
According to new reports, Apple is preparing to conclude an agreement with Intel to manufacture some of its processors, not design them, in a move aimed at reducing complete dependence on the Taiwanese company TSMC.
Intel is preparing to manufacture Apple chips soon
Analyst Jeff Pu from GF Securities explained that Apple is considering distributing manufacturing operations among than one party, especially with the increasing pressure in supply chains. Pu expects that the new cooperation with Intel will begin to manufacture some A-series processors intended for copying iPhone Regular, not Pro, as of 2028.
Intel’s role will be limited at first, making only a small percentage of chips, while TSMC will remain Apple’s primary supplier.
This is not the first time that cooperation of this kind has been mentioned. Last month, famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Intel will begin manufacturing the weakest M series processors for some Mac and iPad devices in mid-2027, with Apple relying on Intel’s 18A manufacturing technology.
Intel describes this technology as “the first advanced manufacturing node under 2 nanometers to be manufactured in North America,” making it a major shift in the company’s path to competing with TSMC and Samsung in the field of advanced chip manufacturing.
If the deal goes through, it will be an important strategic move for Apple, as it reduces the risks resulting from relying on just one factory, especially in light of geopolitical tensions that may affect TSMC’s operations in Taiwan.
Apple or Intel have not yet officially commented on these reports, but analysts believe that the current moves suggest major changes in the processor manufacturing map over the next few years. See also: Realme unveils its P4x phone with a 7,000 mAh battery.
