Many were distraught over the news, with one sharing: ‘I can’t believe it’s closing.’
‘This place is pretty much everyone’s youth,’ another shared.
‘Farewell to an iconic Sydney institution,’ one said.
‘Oh man, this is so surreal. Only this week I was talking about this place. Years ago I dated a guy who lived in Newtown and he brought me here and we got the braised eggplant and I still think about it to this day,’ another revealed.
‘This is a dark day for humanity,’ one added.
The news comes after the owners revealed they were ‘sadly forced to leave’ the location after the landlord’s ‘unilateral decision’ not to renew their lease.

‘It has been our honour and pleasure to serve you, and we are deeply grateful for your companionship along the way,’ the owners’ post read.
However, in promising news, the closure notice hinted at plans to reopen Chinese Noodle House in a new location.
‘We hope that in the near future, we will once again have the opportunity to bring you delicious food and service.’
Speaking to Daily Mail, Eric, the son-in-law of the owner, confirmed the family were yet to find a new space to relocate the restaurant.
‘We feel very sad to leave this place and are sorry for all our customers, as we’re no longer able to provide good food and good service to them,’ he told Daily Mail.
