Kim Kardashian has been slammed by Alec Baldwin’s daughter Ireland Baldwin for appearing to possess a Hermès bag made from elephant hide.
In a video that went viral over the weekend, mom-of-four Kardashian, 45, was seen posing with the rare luxury accessory, which resembled the skin of the giant mammal.
Although the true origin of the leather remains unclear, the actress was seen holding onto the bag and taking photos with it in what seemed to be promo for her recently released television show, All’s Fair.
The clip caught the attention of 30-year-old Baldwin, who called out Kardashian on her Instagram story.
‘This is so disgusting and shameful,’ she said. ‘I don’t understand how these people are supported the way they are.’
Like Baldwin, who is the daughter of Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin and Kim Basingermany others also bashed Kardashian over the bag.
‘Love Birkin’s but elephant is another level,’ one said. ‘They’re like spiritual animals this can’t happen.’
‘This is where I draw the line,’ another said while a third continued, ‘Ick and of course she owns one. This family has no class or shame.’

Ireland Baldwin slammed ‘disgusting’ and ‘shameful’ Kardashian over the bag
A fourth said the bag ‘should be in a museum showing how insane humans are’ and ‘not paraded around as a luxury item.’
Some, however, defended Kardashian and pointed out that the bag was ‘already made.’
‘That’s beautiful,’ one said. ‘The elephant has been gone for 40+ years. Relax. Let her enjoy. Someone must!’
Agreeing, another wrote: ‘I mean, it’s already made lol… why be upset about it? I don’t support hunting at all, but she didn’t personally request this bag.’
Daily Mail has contacted Kardashian’s rep and Hermès for comment.
According to animal charity PETA, Hermès made a series of bags from the skin of an elephant who was allegedly shot and killed on a safari in the 1980s.
The label never officially sold elephant leather bags.
Hermès does pride itself on stocking goods made from precious leathers, including crocodile leather, ostrich leather and lizard leather.

‘At Hermès, rare and delicate precious leathers can be identified by their natural texture, which gives them a unique feel,’ the website reads.
‘They carry signature patterns and shapes: scales for crocodile, alligator and lizard leather, and follicles for ostrich leather.
‘These precious leathers, selected for their excellence, can be polished using an agate stone for a glossy finish, or treated with wool felt for a matt look.
‘These embellishments preserve the skin’s ‘transparency’, which is a hallmark of its durability.’
