According to what was reported by the Spanish newspaper “Ok Diario”, during the event, a 40-year-old man entered and stormed the hall that was hosting the book presentation ceremony, “Kill Rubiales.” The assailant shouted, saying: “You fraudster, you fraudster!” before throwing two eggs towards Rubiales, one of which directly hit his back.

The attendees quickly intervened to control the assailant and remove him from the venue, allowing the event to resume without any injuries or major disruption.

Rubiales, who appeared nervous and agitated, tried to approach the assailant, but members of his security team prevented him from doing so.

In a later statement, Rubiales said: “I discovered that he is my uncle. Luis Rubin is my uncle, but he is my age.”

He added: “He threw eggs at me because he is a mentally ill person, and I do not think there is any justification for that.”

The man who threw eggs at the former Spanish Federation president was arrested and will be investigated later.

It should be noted that the event was dedicated to the launch of his new book, “Kill Rubiales,” in which he reviews his period as president of the Spanish Federation between 2018 and 2023, and deals with his own vision of the incident of him kissing player Jenny Hermoso without her consent after the 2023 Women’s World Cup final, an incident that led to his suspension by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and his subsequent judicial conviction on charges of sexual assault, with a fine of 10,800.
