According to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, this step coincides with the stadium’s transformation into a multi-use facility, as it will host matches from the American professional football league (NFL) for the first time, in addition to the football competitions that it has been famous for for many decades.

The new Bernabeu is a unique architectural masterpiece that reflects Florentino Pérez’s vision of making Real Madrid a global sporting and economic institution.

Renovation work began in 2019 at a cost of than €900 million, to include a retractable roof that closes completely in minutes, 360-degree panoramic screens, and a retractable floor that allows the stadium to be used for concerts and shows without affecting the quality of the natural grass.

The stadium’s new visual identity, with its modern logo inspired by its metal structure, gives it a futuristic character that symbolizes the club’s development, and makes it closer to an artistic and architectural landmark similar to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.

The stadium was opened in December 1947 under the name “New Chamartin”, before it was renamed in honor of the legendary president “Santiago Bernabéu”, the man who laid the foundations of white glory and turned Real Madrid into one of the greatest clubs in history.

Since then, the Bernabeu has embraced immortal moments: from the glories of the European fifties, to the “Galacticos” era, all the way to the Champions League miracles of the last decade.

Every corner of the stadium carries unforgettable historical memories, from the 1982 World Cup final between Italy and West Germany, to the resounding “rematches” against Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City in 2022.

For decades, the Bernabéu has been than just a stadium. It is a symbol of Madrid’s identity and the voice of its fans, who always chant: Hala Madrid.
