A potential scandal in the UFC…an investigation into a controversial fight
This came in a statement issued by the organization and reported by the MMA Fighting platform.
The UFC confirmed that it is cooperating with IC360, a company specialized in monitoring betting patterns on the organization’s matches, to verify the details of the fight.
The administration stressed that it deals very seriously with any suspicions related to the integrity of competitions and the protection of athletes.
Previous reports indicated that Dalgarian was the most prominent candidate to win before the fight, but the betting rates suddenly changed hours before the start of the confrontation, as the winning rates dropped in favor of Del Valle in an unusual manner, which raised doubts about the nature of the fight.
Dalgarian has seven victories versus two losses in mixed martial arts on his record, while Del Valle has achieved nine victories in nine fights without any defeat so far.
This incident comes after similar incidents that the UFC witnessed previously, most notably the case of fighter Darrick Miner in 2022, who lost in the first round after a similar change in betting percentages.
At that time, some betting sites were stopped from accepting bets on UFC fights. Miner was also fired and his coach, James Krause, was suspended for life. Fighter Jeff Molina was also suspended for three years for participating in bets on that fight.
